Would you rather pull you bus in a parking space and then pull out. Like have a in and out no backing up? Do most yards have you back up. Which do you prefer?

I would much rather be able to drive into a parking space and drive out of one. Some of the buses where I drive are parked head-in in a garage, and a few are backed into parking spaces. I like backing out and pulling in better only because that's a lot easier and doesn't take as long at the end of the day when I want to go home. Although, I would think that with pulling out of a space, it'd be a lot easier to watch for others pulling out and people walking around. Still, I like backing out and pulling in, rather than pulling out and backing in

We back our buses into their spots. It is easier to do because when you back out you have other buses next to you and can not see if other buses are entering or exiting the bus lot.

Let's face it...backing is something we would rather not do. However it is a necessary evil of our jobs. That's why I like the fact that our buses are parked in two rows facing each other, so we have to back out. It gives the drivers a little practice backing every morning, and it's safer to practice that way because everyone expects it.

We have five compounds that house all our buses . Some of the larger ones are large enough to have "pull through" parking. The others have "back in-pull out" parking. We figure backing into a parking space is better than backing "blind" into the parking lot where other buses, delivery vehicles, fuel transports and other possibilities exist for a collision. Works for us!

We have two compounds. At both compounds, the buses back in. They have done it that way for ever.

In the mornings when we finish our routes we can either pull our bus into its parking space or back it in to the parking space. It doesn't matter. In the afternoons when we finish our routes we are required to back into our parking spaces. 9 times out of 10 I will back my bus into the parking space after both my morning and afternoon run.

Miam-Dade County Schools has 7 compounds........at the one I work at (Southwest Compound) the buses pull in and pull out, so there is never a need to reverse except when the trainees are learning how to park the buses  The parking slots are just painted lines so the buses can pull in and pull out with ease.

Pull and pull out is what I want to have at my bus yard I think it will be the best no problem worrying about backing up and I think it could cut down on maybe back up accidents if there are any?

Bus parking at our yard is always back out. The buses always leave in a different order every day, but they are assigned slots. My bus driver says that every now and then one is parked in the wrong spot. My bus has a little tag on it that says what slot it is parked in.

I have designed my bus yard. I am going to have them pull into the garage area then pull out. But there will also be room were you pull out that you can leave it sitting out. For instance if the bus breaks down they can repair it in the garage and then have the sub park outside the door. Inside the gargage each bus will have a desk,storage unit and chair to sit in.

We have over 200 buses and are limited on space. All are buses pullin and back out, which like other's said are really dangerous to do! Are Special Needs buses all back in at night. It would be nice to have enough space to pullin and pull out!

Talking about Parking and backing.. I know that at all costs that you try to never use reverse on a school bus (unless you are Parking) But In the Pa School Bus test They require you to Parallel Park the bus. But in what circumstances must you parallel park a school bus. I suppose there will be a time I will have to Parallel Park the bus. Or back it through the slalom or in a off set alley.

Most of our buses back in and pull out. However, the ones in the middle can pull in and pull out because of the way the parking spaces are arranged.

We keep our buses at the school. As a safety / security measure, the buses are backed in so that the entire school can be evacuated quickly. It is part of our emergency situation policy.

I find that if you have only one direction parking, when you finish your school runs it is easier to back in while your drivers are more alert and you still have daylight for better vision. It's easier to pull straight out first thing in the morning when staff may not be fully alert (before coffee, lol). Also the light factor in winter when your drivers arrive at early A.M.hours it may still be dark and unsafe because of limited vision.

We have had pull-through parking since 1995 when we moved to our new yard. Prior to that we had to back into our spaces. There was never a problem with the backing but it is much better now.
