What is your district's transportation department like? Is it efficient for the most part? How large is your district? For outsourced district's how well does the contracter operation work? I'm just curious to get a general idea of what your School Transportation Area is like.

Don't mean to brag, but we are the most efficient district in the state of Florida. (This fact is based on load factor of # of kids per bus and printed by the Fl. D.O.E.) We transport about 62,000 kids per day on 575 route buses. (This does not count spares or school based activity buses)

I work for a school district that buses approximately 1900 elementary and middle school aged students. Our routes are run by a private contractor. I am responsible for developing the routes, but I have VersaTrans routiung software, which is a very big help. The private contractor and I have a very good working relationship, and I think that is the key to our success. We don't have too many problems with buses arriving late at school, but if we do the bus company either notifies me or the school to inform them of the situation. I would have to say that the private contractor that handles our school routes is very efficient. They are not overstressed with too much to handle, like other private contractors in the area. Hope this helps.
