Looking to see if having video cameras on the school buses could provide an added value to the bus companies & The School Districts across the country. They are transporting so many of our prescious children to school everyday. I am just wondering if having these recording systems on the buses can help keep our future leaders of the world safe. It can also be a help with liability issues against the bus companies and their employees. May also be used as a training tool for the drivers, on how to deal with specific situations. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
They are a great tool and like mlk says you can spot the small stuff but... One instance a few years ago it was used against a driver. Parents called and said their kid was being verbally abused being the last one off yet besides, pulled the tape and wow sure enough the driver was. He was reprimanded with a week off. Parents wanted to see the tape but policy kept them from viewing it, which was good in a way, it could have been blown way out of porportion! Make sure you have a video policy in place!.
The camera on my bus has helped me out. There was a fight on the bus, one of the parents was giving me heck saying her kid didn't through any punchs. With the permission of my TD, she got to see the tape. After the first 30 seconds, she changed her mind.
