What are the laws and regulations apply to college transportation. My interest is in NY state. With the recent problems with van rollovers and student drivers is there anything on the horizon.
Welcome to the forums! Where in New York is your district?
In New York State, it seems that their aren't any laws. As a matter of fact, the college a few minutes away from me has a whole fleet of 15 passenger vans. Those vans go all over, on trips, etc. I wish they would have laws regarding it though. Activity buses would be a great idea, since they are safer and more reliable then 15 passenger vans.
There aren't currently any laws regulating college transportation. However, the 15-passenger van issue/warnings have hit college campuses because of the number of accidents and deaths resulting from their use by university athletic departments. As you know, 15-passenger vans are a primary source of transportation for a good many college campuses. However, many universities are proactively changing their internal policies with regard to the use of vans and transportation as a whole - as I have on our campus.
