Hi there. I'm in WA state and have around 60 bus fleet. Most are old Am tran/ Ward, or newer Bluebirds. But we have just a few IC's scattered in the mix. So I have a 2008 IC, CE, with the DT466E (MAXXFORCE) engine. It has steering wheel controls for the 8 ways and the problem is... when the Reds come on and the stop paddle deploys, the front crossing arm does not deploy. Checked fuses and relays and all are good. Checked for power to the bumper/ crossing arem motor, and there is always power at the 4 pin flat connector at the unit. Reds on or off power always there. So my assumption was a module is controlling the ground side of the unit. But what module...where is it...and how would I check that.
Just a note: We do not have any...ANY info (wiring schematics, service manuals, ect) on the 3 IC buses we have in the fleet. Any help is good help!! Thanks

We have (10) 08' front engine IC's with the Maxxforce engine. Our student warning modules are located in the electrical compartment box on the left front side of the bus, about where the driver sits. The box should be yellow and have relays. If it's a newer style module, it will have male terminal ends pushed in along the bottom, about 12 of them.

It's very common for the crossing arm motors to burn out. I would disassemble the crossing gate assembly, verify power and ground at the 2 wires going to the motor and go from there.

Those electric crossing arm bases are pretty simple. Power in all the time with key on (or off too if it is optioned that way), ground, & signal wire (it's a ground). If you have all those then you need to look at the motor. Where it gets complicated is if you have a magnet for the end. I would remove it from the system if you have on on there.

Thank guys. Gottadrift, your speaking of the Weldon 7000 controller? I am very familiar with that, but I can not find one on this bus. I'v also looked for the "INPOWER" ones or even the older relay style.
The base is simple. If I apply ground (signal) then it works fine. There is power there all the time. So what I'm looking for is "where does the signal ground come from"? Does this year of IC have a multiplexer that controls the 8 way functions? If so, where is that?
Thanks for the help guys!!

I'll be out on that one. Don't have ICs on the place anymore. Do you have a dealer you can talk to?

The bad news...The dealer for Wa and OR for IC shut down/out of business. So the "trucking dealer" took over but isn't helpful yet. We didn't buy this from them... And they are 250 miles away so I can't just drop it off and have them look at it. And we only have 1 of these and 1 of the newer 2010 which is different.

Call this number- 877-875-4510 (Mid-West Transit) ask for Dan or Jesse. You play it how you want but I'd just tell them who you are and what the issue is with your dealer. They can probably tell you want you need to known in less than a minute.

Thank you Bryan. After a phone call and looking at a schematic, found a broken wire in the harness near the firewall. made a quick repair and all good. Thanks again for the knowledge.

I have been looking for the 8 way relay on my 2009 ce 300 and cant seem to find it anywhere. Do you happen to have a picture of where it is located or can tell me a specific location to look.

The 8-way warning lights are a function of the body control module on your bus. That is located behind the right front heater on the firewall. Diamond Logic Builder software is required for servicing the module.
