have a c2 i put injectors in now i am getting a code for fuel pressure idling the command is 17000 and it only reads 2000 i have no leaks it seems to run fine so i wouldnt think ints a pump or it wouldnt run any thought>

559 code more than likely, i bet if you pull the pressure limiting valve off of rail it will have dirt in it and keeping it open, do the fuel pressure test and check the temp. of the fuel rail return line it will be hotter meaning this valve is letting fuel to bypass(usually red paint will get in rail and cause this valve to stay open) , if not check the injector return it can be done the same way

i took the valce out saw no debris blew it out but a new valve in it fired it up it had 4500 psi at first then quickly startwd dropping to about 2800 psi i searched for the fuel pressure test but cant find it could the pressure sensor on back of fuel rail me reading incorrect?

its the fuel pressure test or fuel leakage test it drives the pressure up to 20,000 psi or so, with engine off it should read close to zero the pressure sensor try the test and see if it goes up over 20,000 psi sounds like an injector is bleeding out the return
did you relearn the injectors with the laptop

i dont see a relearn for injectors but i tried to start the test it would not allow because pressure is low. when i first start engine it idles with 10000 psi fuel pressure and the command is about the same after 30 seconds of running the psi start to slowly drop untill its about 2000psi again i just put injectors in it had a bad one so did all six i put a new relief valve in y i was in there how can i check to see if an injector is bleead back???

with key on engine off the the fuel rail pressure command is at 13712 the fuel rail pressure is 27 the pressure rationality senso says -385 that seems wierd to me is that correct

ive never looked at commanded or rationality those only matter with engine running but the sensor is in spec -/+ 30 psi with engine off if it didn't have this problem before you did injectors then something is wrong that you had apart
run the fuel pressure test and either follow TS and measure how much comes out(normal its just drops, so pull banjo bolt see if i sprays) , or use a temp. and see if the return is hot if one is leaking then one by one remove head tube and block rail and do test when the fuel stops you found the injector that is bad

https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-tools/10810-injector-rail-fuel-line-cap-set-5-pc will work
if you remove valve cover you might just be able to remove wires from injector which would stop it from firing
you wouldn't be able to do the fuel leakage test with insite though due to an active code

the rail input line started to spray fuel? , and you don't look at fuel pressure just watch the return from the line on the back of the head for this test
did you try putting it all back together and get it running?
the pump is just agear pump with a actuator , seen the actuator go bad never a pump on an ISB on an X15 yes not saying it can't happen
install gauge on rail feed line , i just always went by the sensor

i would inspect that injector , if fuel was pushed from injector out its head tube the tip or o-ring(or copper washer is doubled up) is shot

you can monitor the amperage at the fuel actuator , the spec you would have to look that up (jpro or insite) but if it was bad it should log a code

holy jumpins i've replaced pumps but never had an issue like this, air getting in the low side causing this issue , but did it have this issue and this is why the injectors got replaced can build low pressure with air in fuel but high pressure it will not do
wish i could be there its hard to figure stuff out

it originally had 1 bad injector misfire but we always just do all of them if its over 100000 so replaced all started it up then i was getting code for low pressure in fuel rail so i was thinking it had a injector leaking so put a block off tool on fuel rail to see what injector it was the first injevtoe pressure still leaked down the second one still leaked down but on the second one fuel was comind out of feeder tube put all together then it would not start i had fuel pressure at th test port on filter but no pressure at the rail i cracked the line on fuel rail cranked and cranked and it just dribbled out so i ws thinking must be the pump because i primed the fuel for a long time cracked lines to try and get air out and nothing so i figured the pump took a crap but i replaced and still no started

if the code was 559 , when the unit would start and run the TS would have started at step 6 now that the unit is a no start im assuming the issue should be found within the first steps of the TS , bit of a pain to do and lots of tubes and gauges hopefuly your local cummins place will loan these tools or just buy the fuel kit from cummins it does many years

yeah its code 4691 but i just cant understand o have low pressure at test port on filter but nothing at rail it seams like a pump problem but the pump is new its driving me nuts

is there a priming procedure for the hi pressure pump? i actually got frustrated and sprayed some stating fluid i in take and it started right up ran went to hi idle for a while then check engine light came on then it shut down it has to be a injector leaking back

not that i know of , time it up(like an air compressor on older ones not 100% on the newer) and let it sail

if you search cummins code 4691 you had this issue on another c2 , but you didn't write what was the fix if you remember maybe same issue(https://www.schoolbusfleet.com/Forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=42301)

hmmmmm getting old lol dont remember that lol but i was told when u do the block off test no fuel should come from feeder tube and it does so i am thinking i have an injector pushing fuel back thru injector from return side so need to check the rest

I just did a six pack , wouldnt start then it did ran and idled looked under bus and raw fuel dripping out of dpf/scr canister , shut it down it almost ran backwards , blocked intake to kill
nothing better then parts that are no god from new
didn't make oil which is good
now a day of blocking rail and finding bad injector or more

yeah that ***** i was told its probably the red or orange paint that cummins sprays there motors with thats always flaking off probably got in the rail then got stuck in the injector i had the rep come down that sold me the injectors to talk about what happened and thats what he was tellin me but i told him i i took that rail off and cleaned it out very well but he was sure it was some kind of debris that got in there he warrentied it still but just wanted to go over it

#5 exhaust shooting out of cross tube
jokes on him every 90 turn i used air gun to clear chips just like at the cummins depot like to see them try that one always our fault cant wait till America builds stuff lol

the injector that was bad , if you hold a rubber tipped blow gun at the tip, air comes out of where the cross tube seats, tested al six i took out and four do the same the other two no bubbles
not sure if this is a good test to try before installing new but i do know that i'll never do six at once
i'll do one at a time and start the engine between each one instead of trouble shooting new parts
i ordered the kits part#5579332 no core on injector? but if you buy just the injector part#5254261 there is a core , makes no difference in performance we have had issues with both
