I recently bought a 1981 wildland fire truck s1754 4x4. It dropped a rod in the 345. Found a donor truck with dt466. I would like to know if 4x4 drivetrain can handle the dt power?

That would be awesome. I bet you could make that work. Look for a wrecked bus and get intercooler and all.

Check your gearing. Those gas engines run higher RPM's than the diesels do.

We can't all be conventional!

I was not specific enough in describing the truck set up. I have located a truck with dt466 210 hp and 5 speed manual transmission. I am planning to use the engine and transmission from dt. My truck has t 223 h22 transfer case. Talk to guy at boyce military parts. He said transfer case should handle horsepower. If not will use military transfer case. The front axle strength is my concern. The front axle is a spicer heavy axle pn 097ba103-8. The second line on the tag 90-007.200. I assume the 7.20 is the gear ratio. Going to run 1600 x 20 Michelin XZL Radial tires. I have not figured the ratio out. The transfer case is 2.0 ratio. Hope someone can confirm the transfer case and axel will hold up to dt466 210hp.
