Compressed Natural gas is clean burning, and costs less to buy.
I really don't have any experience with CNG in NY. I'd rather have a Propane powered bus... if I couldn't have a Cummins diesel
Do they cost less to buy? I know the fueling infastructure is pricey. I also don't know of many refueling stations around either. (at least in my area)
The CA fleets are seeing similar mpg to diesel out of their Cummins powered CNG fleets.
Key components to makiing it work: - Grant Capture to offset the significant bus purchase $ increase over diesel. - Community Support - will they like it & support it in today's political atmoshphere? - Infrastructure - Work with you local utility - Range - Where else can you fuel while away from your regular routes? - Flexibility - Keep a portion of the fleet diesel to cover trip buses.
I may not know the answer but I can usually find who does.
