Anybody have any info on sid 71 with a 3 active seems to come and go from dash cluster causes warn eng light to come on, bus seems to start and run fine. then bus stalled going down road but restarted within seconds, code gone from dash, no codes show up on laptop at any time even when eng warn light was on. I've ck'd all power and grounds from battery's to eng and eng ECM, clean and dirty power conn on firewall, under doghouse inside bus, etc. finally got code to come back on dash in shop when started bus for the fifth time, still doesn't show up any thing on laptop and doesn't seem to have any effect on eng or code when doing wiggle test on wiring. any input would be greatly appreciated

I looked through my notes and the DTC chart I have and didn't see a 71. I would check the fluid levels, especially the coolant. Also unplug the coolant level sensor in the surge tank and see if coolant has entered the connector. Coolant runs down the harness into the ECM. Are you using Insite or a generic program to scan?

What engine and software are you using?

Looking here http://www.heavydutypowertrain.com/md200codes.pdf shows sid/pid 71 to be the idle shutdown circuit, but no FMI of 3. Also had to dig a minute or two because it only showed up for cat and international engines. Typically a FMI of 3 is voltage high but not knowing what module, sensors, and wires to test it doesn't help much.

it's a 6.7 cummins and using the free download from cummins website. also i just got a call back from bird dealer and apparently there is a tech bulletin from bird out about coolant sensor wicking through wiring to ecm, after that i did pull connector at tank and had antifreeze in it. looks like this one's going to dealer as service rep said any wiring or collateral damage from sensor leaking would be covered by bluebird. if it's a moisture problem in wiring seems to make sense that it is intermittent, but don't know why it wouldn't show up on laptop? thanks for the input, looks like if i wouldn't have gotten info i did from dealer you guys were heading in the same direction
