I have two FS 65s that are 2004 models. They are both acting similar in that they have both failed to heat up (changed thermostat on one and that helped it) and they both get warmer in the back of the bus than the front. I changed the heat valve that was mentioned a few weeks ago here on this forum, no change. Any ideas?
Is your purple Penray coolant rusty red? A 2005 FS-65 Cat-C7 never had good heat (same driver since it was new) till the valve was gutted, cooling system cleaned with Restore Plus and then the system "power flushed" with air and water. Bought a "heat gun" and can get up to 120 degrees at the vents. Also have been cleaning the filter/rats nest behind the door side heater. And changing the filter under the driver's heater. There is a big difference hot in air flow. This 2005 is as good as any of the other FS-65s now, Cummins, Cat or Mercedes. HF
I had to peel layers of crud off heater coils that wouldn't dissipate heat. I'm glad they use filters now. I clean them every other blower motor replacement :)
