| Okay. The 1993 AmTran Volunteer at my old school never broke down for the 6 years I had went there, minus the time it beeped for no reason (that was fixed). The 2006 BB Vision there broke down every other week, had the Alternator replaced 3 Times, and didn't pass the First Year Inspection. I also received a email from the bus driver who drove the 1999 AmTran CS stating that It had not ran that whole year and she had to take the 1993 AmTran Volunteer as a spare. The AmTran CS also had a blown headgasket, and ever since the headgasket blew, its been nothing but junk. Its had a Short in the Horn, engine problems, radiator problems, transmission problems, and the list goes on and on. |

^Again, those problems are with the engines/components, not the bus bodies themselves...

| Well, the AmTran Volunteer there has paint fading, and has a little minor rust spots, but that bus is strong and reliable as a bus could get. Although one seat in the rear of the bus is loose, I think that can be fixed in a second. |

Sorry, you misinterpreted my point earlier. I meant just one unit of a bus's model, ex. one Volunteer, one CS.
As for the newer buses being less reliable... granted, this is a single unit... our '10 CE has never really been absent due to its own problems. It went to the dealer once to have factory defects (roof leak, loose seats) fixed. Then the battery died once because a driver left the radio on over vacation. Then the particulate filter got full and the engine threatened to shut down, but that's because of the design, I think it was too cold for it to regenerate.
Then we have the numerous CE horror stories from trusty mechanics here..... I guess it depends who you ask, experiences vary everywhere. |
