In the last couple of years we are experiencing air filters failing on the 2006 Blue Bird Visions with the front air intake system. They fill up with snow get saturated. The filter tends to defrom and lets the engine not recieve filtered air causing extensive internal engine damange if not caught in time. Some filters have totally collaspsed. The filters provided by Blue Bird have failed prematuraly with the glue strip delaminating and causing the air filter this is on filters being in service for about three months.Technicians are trained to follow up the manufacture recommendations on servicing their product. We are using a filter minder which Blue Bird has put in a poor location. I was wondering if anyone else has been experiencing these problems and what you did to correct them. What does your Bluebird rep say? I haven't experienced this yet as we haven't got much snow. Is the snow coming in through the air tube? Take some photos, to show us what is happening.

We get moderate snow here in NY. None of the Visions at my district have done this.

You can upload to a photobucket.com account then post the link. Photobucket is free picture hosting.

If by chance you have a Google account (Gmail, YouTube, etc.), you'll automatically have a Picasa Web Albums account and won't need to make a Photobucket account. Go to www.picasaweb.com and log in, you'll be able to upload picture there. Note that YouTube accounts might not be Google accounts and therefore not linked to Gmail/Web Albums.

Like Wolf (sorry, I don't know your name) said, the link goes here inside of img and /img (with brackets around img and /img) and no spaces.

Who makes the air cleaner housing for Blue Bird? Donaldson? Might be worth talking directly to them (or whoever it is). Theres an obvious design flaw there.

The fact that this memo exists indicates to me that at the very least, Bird Bird is FULLY aware that air cleaner problems exist, even though it singles out 2007+ models.

I'll keep digging.

This happens to Freightliners too. The first batch here landed in 2000 equipped with Cummins. Mechanic tried to follow the service indicator. Dusted one. They pick up air too low - filter element stays wet, rusts out the steel screen then the paper fails. My rule is simple. Change every filter during summer service. Filters are cheap. Engines are not.

^ Make you sure to change that to ".google.com" from ".goggle.com". A warning came from my antivirus trying to do that. Did you type that URL our yourself?!

Here's another tip that might make things easier. When you view the album online, click the text in the address bar of the browser to highlight the URL, right-click, and press copy. Then right-click in the reply box and press paste.

Thanks for sharing those pictures!

We have had problems with premature air filter restriction on 05-07
Freightliners and 07-08 Vision buses.
Freightliner sent out new air canister covers that do not allow the air filters to sit in water and snow.
The filters on the Vision buses may pass a light test but will still be junk due to exposure to excess moisture. We have no fix for the Visions aside from frequent filter replacement.
I hate rewarding Bluebird for a poor design by buying overpriced air filters from them. Does anyone have an alternative?

Are you talking about Bus Spec number 0087782? I agree these things are over priced. What does Baldwin want for them?
