I'm a public relations consultant conducting a study to support a client's push to install a new high tech safety device on school buses. It's used to detect students who are accidentally left on a bus. I've read several forum entries and found many articles of incidents. While news outlets report the incident, I don't see a lot of follow up about the cost (of children left behind) to transportation companies, drivers, families or school district. Does any one know of incidents where parents/school districts/lawyers have pressed a legal case? Big settlements or awards? Any help is appreciated.

IC Corp. may have done some of the same research supporting their new device being offered on some of their buses called No Pupil Left Behind. I don't know much more about it or how it works.

I have a feeling that a lot of these cases are quietly settled by the school districts or contractors involved; I don't recall one being drawn out.
