My district is undergoing some major changes and might be considering moving to a three tier system. We currently operate an un-official two tiered system with busses going to elementary and a secondary school. All schools start and 8:00 and Elem. gets out at 2:45, Middle at 2:55, and High School at 3:20.
Please share the time frames some of you use on a three tier system.
A three-tier system works as long as the bell times are appropriately spaced. We have 20-30 minute routes and only 30 minutes between bells in the afternoon. Buses are forever running late. We are small in size geographically so three tiers can be run in a little over 2 hours. If you have a large district size-wise, you may want to keep the farthest travelling buses at two tiers so folks don't run too late.
All drivers recieve an elementary school run AND a secondary school run (middle or high school).
Dismissal Times:
Middle School-
2:30 PM
High School-
2:45 PM
Elementary School-
3:15 PM
Special Notes: The Yonkers Middle/High School gets out at 2:30 PM. Saunders High School gets out at 2:45 PM. All other high schools use the public buses. All middle and elementary schools have school buses.
We have been doing this for many years. Our bell times are: High School- 7:30-2:30 Elementary - 8:00-2:00 Middle Schools- 8:45-3:45 Some bell times vary slightly, due to circumstances, by a few minutes. Joe
