I have driven a 2006/7 BB 62 pass. CNG, transit for many years. They were out of service for several years and now the district needs to use them again. Unfortunately, many of the shoulder/lap seat belts do not retract after they have been pulled out. If you tap the seat belt retainer on the back, at the bottom of the seat, with a rubber mallet, with force, the belt will retract somewhat. My question is this: has the retracting spring deteriorated to the point that it is completely inoperable or does it need a penetrate/lubricant to make it work again. If all it needs to work is a lubricant, how do I get to the spring to apply the lubricant. The mechanics have told me that they can't get to it to apply lubricant. They are extremely busy however,I am not the one to give up on things. Hope springs eternal. I would hate to see these busses put out of service for this problem. |
