I would like to receive some info on how you do your drug testing. We currently are using a third party tester, but not satisfied with the service lately? Does anyone do their own, or do you do your own random selections?
We contract with our insurance carrier. The combined buying power of many school disrticts keeps costs competitive.
If your insurance is pooled with other school districts, and they are contracting drug testing to an unsatisfactory vendor, you should be able to influence them to place pressure to improve the service. If you are a small contractor, I suggest trying to join the local school district insurance consortium. The rates and service should be good.
We contract with the local hospital. As John stated check with neighboring districts to see what they are doing. I do not suggest trying to do this on your own. It causes to much controversy over whom gets randomly selected if you are controlling it. If it is the same place that does the local districts try any local trucking companies. They may be able to help.
Your best bet is to contract yourself into a drug pool. We use a company called Substance Abuse Management Inc (SAMI). They have equipment to assure that the preocess is random, and they also employ the MROs required for DOT testing.
