Hi guys,
I came to you to ask about a wiring issue i'm having with an International, and i was wondering if anyone on here would be able to help me.
Along from driving a school bus i also operate a septic pumping business, and i have an 89' S1800.
I have two of those round 4" stop/tail/turn lights (exactly like the small brake lights on the back of the C2)
The other day i noticed that my right brake/signal did not light up, but my park lights did. So i removed some of the old wiring that was connected to it and started fresh. I made sure all of my wires had power coming through (i used a test light) and that my ground was clean and solid, but it is still dead (except for the tail light being lit)
The other side of the truck works fine, and i even took the left side light and plugged it into the right, and it was still dead. When the tail and brake/turn wires are switched the second filament lights up as if someone has their foot on the brake, so i know the light itself is still good.
The weird thing is...I have my test light on the signal wire and it is flashing (because my turn signal switch is on, but as soon as a join that wire to it's appropriate wire on the pigtail for the light i no longer have power and my test light goes dead!
People have been telling me to re-check my ground, and i have. I even replaced the old ground bolt with a new bolt to ground to.
the fuse panel in the dash is good too. I picked up another flasher and shoved it into the fusebox hoping maybe that may do the trick...it didn't.
I may be wrong but it seems almost if the light is trying to ground itself or something odd like that.
I know that this is set up for the buses, but i've found such good info out there about the buses that i thought someone might be able to help me with my old International. Good help is hard to find!
