I just love living in Illinois. This kind of thing is not going to change until we get a governor that is not from Chicago or at least doesn't act like it.
Adam Andrzejewski is probably the closest thing we have had to a good candidate for governor in a long time. I'm not associated with him at all but I did vote for him. I hope he gives it a try again the next go around.
I guess one of the things I like about him is that he wants a forensic audit of the books of Illinois. All the current government officials are opposed to this. What's up with that? This makes me want it more.
The interesting thing about Illinois, for those of you who don't live here, is that we are a very large state both geographically and population wise. But in the last election our governor only won two of the 102 counties but he was elected! It would be hard to overcome Cook County even it we could get a vast majority of the people in those 100 counties to agree to vote for one person. The rest of the state is really held hostage by Chicago.
Another interesting side thing is the teacher's retirement system in Illinois is only for 101 counties! Cook County has it’s own teacher's retirement system! But if they run low on funds they dip into the fund for the other 101 counties. That's the kind of thing that goes on in Illinois all the time!
