Each year, during the year we replace the fuel filters on our fleet. I have a couple of DT360's that lost prime after the filter change. Bus has only one filter. Fuel lines have been replaced and the filter changed again. Bus still loses prime. Now, on the last bus to do this I found an aneroid tube with a hole in it. I replaced the tube and the bus has been running with no issues since! My question........can the aneroid tube have this effect on the fuel system staying primed? What is the function of the aneroid tube? Note: Buses were running fine before the filter change. Thanks in advance.
Aneroid tube signals the injection pump how much intake manifold pressure exists. The aneroid tube would have no effect on fuel system "staying primed".
In addition to the one fuel filter there should be a strainer screen in a small bowl adjacent to the filter, be sure to remove and clean those also when you change the filter.
