I operate an International 2006 FE300. I have written up the "spongy brakes" twice. All brakes on the bus were replaced and the problem still exists. After a couple of student stops, the brake pedal feel like it wants to go down to the floor. Are the brakes electro mechanical and is it just a need to adjust the peddel travel ?

I do not consider it a "red flag" problem because I know how to drive with it, but not all drivers may understand how to handle the "spongy Brakes"

Thanks, and keep up the good ideas...

Chuck, This IS a red flag problem. Do not drive this bus dude!! If the brake pedal is going to the floor get it fixed!! You might be in a panic situation and have to brake quickly and not have brakes. Spare you and your operation the pain of an investigation if there is a major accident.

Now the problem. I do not have any FEs but I do have a couple of questions for you. Are your brakes air or hyd? If they are hydraulic you have air in the system or the master cylinder is bad or possibly an anti-lock problem. If they are hyd. the booster is electric if they are the same system as on a CE.

In short, GET THIS THING FIXED!!!
