In Cape Elizabeth we've been buying ICs for the past 5 years. I don't know which brand dominates the state but I'm happy with Navistar and their service/parts/support network.

Let's face it. All bus bodies are really cheap. We've had many Thomas and Bluebirds in the past. The ICs have done okay so far but they're not too old yet. Time will tell.

But I'm a Navistar man. Between the buses and Public Works you won't see too many other brands there. Mostly my doing I guess. And the only way to get a Navistar is to go with IC.

Question: Why did you choose Maine and not any other State?

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

Service and availability of parts should be a factor in what you buy. My preference happen to be IC but I'm not going to knock the other brands. They all have their good and bad points.

If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

O'Connor GMC / Blue Bird is one of the better dealers in the area. One of the salesmen out of their Portland location has been picking up a lot of customers lately, even outside of his territory. I've heard several operators here in CT say he does a good job of standing by his buses.

We have a '10 IC being delivered soon. The jury is still out.

Cape needs a good bus super. I'm just a mechanic/ garage foreman of Public works. I see a lot of confusion/disarray/bad scheduling but it's not my problem.

For some bureaucratic reason Community Services is in charge of Student Transportation and they are clueless.

If it doesn't fit, FORCE it.
If it breaks, well, it needed replacing anyway.

We're in Kennebunk, not too far off. Have had zero issues with the SCR motors so far. Only half a dozen on the road so far. The State is a pretty good mix.

Us and O'Connor both sold most of the bodies historically. Then once everyone went integrated, things leveled out. BB has lost some presence and IC has gained some.

Our market share dropped when the C2 first came out, slowly increasing since. I think Maine customers tend to be loyal and keep what they know and are comfortable with no matter what the brand.

To my understanding, Maine is a mix. From photos I have seen a lot of Thomas but also some Blue Birds and IC mixed into it, if I am in correct.

Hey ricky IM me when you get a chance.

at least maine does not make school bus speed be mandated at only 45 mph like north carolina i think thats needs to be up dated to min of 55 max of 60 on highway what do you think about this issue

Our buses do 65 mph. It's safer to keep up with traffic than have somebody ram you on the Interstate.

The Maine Group Bid specifications are on here: http://www.maine.gov/education/const/trans/pt004.htm.

These differ slightly from the State minimum specs/inspection requirements. Hope this helps.

Brian Cressy gave the correct link. I don't see anything in there limiting top speed.
