| 2 years ago i bought a 1999 bbird that had only 18K miles on it and was converted to a motorhome right after it was originally purchased. It has had some minor glitches in the multifunction gauge since i got it but now at only 43K the whole cluster is acting up. Blue bird has referred me to two electronics places that were supposed to be able to repair the cluster but neither of them has been able to repair it. they say that the main controller chip is bad and they cannot get the chip. I read on this forum about a man, Richard pheffer, who fixes clusters but i called and found that he is deceased and did not pass his business on. Blue bird no longer stocks this part. i found a couple of dealers with old stock but the cluster is very expensive and if it don't last any longer than this one did then I would just as soon find some way to work around it. How dependable are these clusters and does anybody know where i might be able to get mine repaired or buy one from salvage? Blue Bird told me that this cluster was used for a 5 year period beginning in mid 1997. the cluster has a 34 pin connector on the back and the part numbers that will work are 1935949 or 0004905. the part number will be stencilled on the back of the cluster. thanks, dave diamond |

I have two with problems part# 1935931 for cummins ISB. One has a leak in the air brake block, and the coolant temp circut inop. The other one has been programmed metric and had erratic readings. I don't know if they are compatable for parts. If your interested my boss may sell them to ya for parts.
If you haven't already check the harness behind the engine for rub throughs. We had a few of our older TCs experience this. Also check your alternator for voltage spikes.
Bluebird has ddspeedometer.com for repairs, I am guessing this is who you tried. |

Yes, i sent mine to DDspeedometer and they said the main controller chip was bad and sent it back unrepaired. blue bird then told me that southern electronics in Richmond, va. had recently assured them that they could get the parts and repair these boards. i talked with them and sent them a drawing of my cluster and they said they cannot repair it either.
my part number is 1935949 and a couple of dealers have told me that it was replaced by 0004095. i looked at drawings of 1935931 (which you have) and 1935956 and they both look like mine, don't know what the difference is, do you?
I don't have air brakes so i could probably just remove the bulbs for that and i have installed a separate coolant temp gauge so i could probably make do with the one with those deficiencies. what would you sell that one for and how could i get it programmed for my bus?

Call Ralph @812-874-2216. I told him what you have. Programming I am unsure on, they may be different being this ona has air brakes.

| Just bought one the other day, would have to get the part # 4 u. They are readily available in this neck of the woods. You will need have to have the dealer program it for u. We get ours done for free since they lost the cable they borrow our bus with the similar dash to program others |

| I took mine out to replace burned out bulbs. When I replaced I noticed the fuel gauge is showing about 1/8 full ( I know there is about a 1/2 tank) and the tach is way off. At idle it is below 0 but does rise with enginge rpm increase. Any info on where to get replacement or repair would be great. Thanks, Kurt |

| I'm not sure if my cluster is the same as you are talking about. Mine is out of a 1999 Blue Bird. It has the multifunction gauge in the middle / top. |

I've gotten IC clusters from them with great service and no problems. I've haven't talked to them about a BB cluster, but might be worth a call. |

Kurt,
If your cluster was working correctly prior to removal for bulb replacement, you should probably check your connections before sending it out. It wouldn't be the first time a pin pushed back out of the connector or got a little tweaked. HTH

| Does anyone have a copy of the service bulletin/recall on these that involved changing part of the engine wire harness? Back in 1999 or 2000 There was a grounding issue and I believe a couple sending units were updated. I'll look for it on my end and post a pdf link if I find it. |

I haven't decided if I'm going to send mine out for a inop tach or not. The other one someone (retard) had disassembled and took out the ABS bulb rather than fix an open in the harness. I did plug the other spare two clusters in to test and both work but have issues.
