What are some of your markings for bus rts and the pro and cons. I would like to go with any of the three, Numbers, colors or Animals many districts around I see use animals. All magnetic, except the placard that is simalar to a scoreboard that you manually change the number.

we use numbers
With almost 300 schools we have to have ttwo letter codes... for instance
Oakton High school rt. 2 would be OH-02
Oakton Elementary rt 53 would be OE-53
Crossfield elementary rt 12 would be CX-10
Franklin Middle rt 9 would be FK-09

and so on and soo fourth it worls out Great. Students in kindergarten are escorted by older students to their buses

I proposed the idea to but magnetic animal sings on the buses at the elementary school I drive we're in the second year of using them and it's really cut down on the time it takes those little ones to find their bus. Everyone knows what animal they ride and can quickly find the bus. We're still numbered and the older kids are required to know what number they ride. One con about the magnetic signs are we have lost a couple off in the middle of the route and we've had to replace them which can become costly. Out of 16 we've replaced 4 so far over the two years. Right now the monkey has been missing for most of the year so we'll probaly just wait till next year to replace it.

We use animal placards that are attached with suction cups to the windows. Today we had some very strange combinations, my "kids" went on the horse/bear bus. We had four runs doubled up what with people out sick sports runs going out and buses or maybe subs not available.

Nothing great has ever been accomplished without enthusiasm!

Another way that really helps it a lot of out drivers personalize their buses, for instance, my driver likes "Ducks" LOL I know... Anyway, she has a blanket with ducks hanging over the first passenger seat on the right, and a giant stuffed duck in the window, I am in high school but hey, it helps! Most drivers do have some sort of blanket n the window. Most of our buses are rear engined so you can see the drivre a lot better without the engine in the front. our rt card (numbers) are placed in the second window on the right side of the bus and we have Very dark tinted windows, so that windo can only be opened half way or you can't see the number. The personalization helps for when you are walking towards the bus and not along side them if you catch my drift, yuo don't have to keep turning your head to check the number.
