How big is your compound/offices/garages? Is it large enough? How big is your parking area? Does the compound employ their own facilities and security team? Have their ever been any attempts at vandalism?
I forget-are the offices/garage well equipped with internet access, network, voicemail and other technology? Our district is, but doesn't always seem to utilize their technology.
We have 5 bus compounds that house our 800 buses. All have access to internet and departmental and voice mail. All are equipped with their own maintenance facility and alarm systems. Our biggest shops house over 200 buses each and are NEVER big enough. Plans are underway to build an additional facility for 150 more buses and staff headquarters. Vandalism is a problem from time to time at every facility it seems, but the alarm systems are helping to curb this. Joe
Our district used to have our office and driver breakroom at one of our elementary schools, while the garage was farther down the hill. Happily this has been rectified and the offices and garage are now located by our new parking compound behind the high school. The former garage is now used for Buildings and Grounds, while the vacated office is now classrooms.
