PIERRE, S.D. - A bus driver for the Deuel School District should get worker's compensation benefits for a skiing accident during an activity trip with students, the state Supreme Court was told Wednesday by her attorney.
However, a lawyer for the school system and its insurer said Renee Norton is not entitled to lost wages and medical expenses.
Representing the Deuel District and the worker's compensation fund of Associated School Boards, Karla Engle told the justices that skiing with students was not required of Norton when she was injured on March 10, 2001, on a slope near Alexandria, Minn.
