I found this on my school district's webpage. I know it's old news, but it's such a wonderful idea.
The First Time Riders and Safety Program sponsored by the Yonkers Public Schools will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2002.
Parents/Guardians of pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first grade students and their children are invited to ride the school buses to their assigned schools where they will have an opportunity to meet the school administration, and receive a building orientation. In addition, a program on school bus safety will be presented for our youngest bus riders.
Buses will begin picking up children and their parents, for each of the schools, at the indicated pick-up time in the transportation letter that they have received.
The goal of the First Time Riders and Safety Program is to make children feel safe and secure on the school bus. First Time Riders and Safety Program has been developed in cooperation with the Yonkers Public Schools, Parents-Teachers-Students Association (PTSA), and community agencies.
