From EPA '04 MBE
102 02 – Boost Pressure Sensor Data Erratic Fault Perform the following steps to troubleshoot a boost pressure sensor data erratic fault:#8234;
Check for additional active fault codes. If fault code 233 12 is active in addition to fault code 102 02, refer to "29.2.1 233 12 – PLD-MR Failed or Programmed Incorrectly" . If only fault code 102 02 is active, go to step 2 . Measure turbo boost pressure with the engine running. Stop the engine and compare with atmospheric pressure. If boost pressure is within the acceptable range, check and clean the combination sensor contacts (remove any corrosion). Erase fault code memory. If boost pressure is not within the acceptable range, go to step 3 . Bridge pins 1 and 3 of the combination sensor. See Figure "Turbo Boost Air Combination Sensor" , and see Figure "Location of Boost Air Combination Sensor Harness Wires" . If new fault code 102 04 is active after bridging pins, replace the sensor. Erase fault code memory. If fault code 102 04 is not active after bridging pins, go to step 4 . Measure the resistance between pin 3 of the combination sensor and wire 7 of the 55-pin connector harness. See Figure "Turbo Boost Air Combination Sensor" , and see Figure "Location of Boost Air Combination Sensor Harness Wires" .
Figure 2. Location of Boost Air Combination Sensor Harness Wires
If resistance is greater than 3 Ù, repair open circuit in 55-pin connector wire 7 to pin 3 of the sensor. Erase fault code memory. If resistance is less than 3 Ù, check and clean contacts (remove any corrosion). Erase fault code memory. |
I may not know the answer but I can usually find who does. |

L.J.D Have you had this problem with the C-7? What did you find was causing the problem? Thanks for your reply |

| I have had problems with the check engine light coming on, the bus has been sluggish. Came up with a 102 code. My engine is still under warranty, so its up at the CAT dealer now. I will post here when i get any news. Did you try Cat dealer, they have great warrany on bus engines. I think mine are covered 5 years. |

| We just had that same issue on one of our MBEs and it ended up being a small hole in the Charge Air Cooler. |

| I received a service bulletin from my dealer that explained that CAT now has upgraded software, that will hopefully cure some of the issues with these boat anchors. Speak to your CAT rep about it! |
