1999 with the Cummins 8 liter motor in the back. The rear remote start box doesn't work but the bus will only start when the switch is on run in the back end. Is this normal? Does anyone know where I can get a wiring dia.for this bus?
Mine, an 02 AA with a 5.9 cummins, will only start from the rear if the key is in the on position and the switch on the rear is switched to run.
It will not start from the front unless the switch in the back is on run.
This website may be able to give you wiring schematics, however it does say that it is only good for bodies built after 2002, but you may want to try anyway. http://service.blue-bird.com/WiringSchematics/
Yeah, try putting the front key in the run position. If there is a switch up top that the door pushes when closed, you'll need to hold that in as well. As for the off/run switch, that is meant to keep someone from starting the bus from the front, while you are working in the back (same with the door threshold switch).
The rear switch is there for safety, when working on the bus you're supposed to disable it so that drivers can't start the bus when someone's standing back there (can't be seen from the driver's seat). The rear start switch is supposed to only work with the front key turned on to prevent unauthorized use.
Your local Blue Bird dealer can probably get diagrams for you.
