Just curious. Does anyone know why there are so many different crossover mirror configurations? For example we have the tripod style, the single arm style (on the Thomas) and our old GMC's had the single brackets that had a "bent back" angle to them? I notice so many different styles on the same chassis. Just curious?
Hi Ken, I think the answer to your question is that everyone wanted in on the action when these things were new! Florida studied many before settling on the "double nickle" set-up from Mirror-Lite in Michigan. It seemed to offer the best coverage/view of everything. Now the Rosco "Euro-style" has the same type view with an easier to adjust mount that is stronger and has a power option. Like the old salesman said "you pays your money and you takes your choice". We use the power Rosco with either the mirror lite or bubble type crossview mirror these days with excellent results. Hope this helps. Joe
Ken, our state school bus standards dictate what we can have. Over the years those standards have changed so you will have buses with mirrors for each standard. Plus each district can spec mirrors that exceed state standards.
